To live a life of integrity, a life that pleases God is hard. While the Bible speaks of the importance of truth, it is increasingly difficult to speak the truth in today society where many prize “truth” as subjective. From a seemingly mundane thing such as doing an online quiz with a friend to simply copying our friends’ assignments when we are clueless, these temptations are constant reminders that we are often standing on a very fine line between right and wrong. Our words have the power to heal, comfort and hurt others – be it intentionally or unintentionally. Yet, it is often because of this that we hesitate to speak the truth in certain situations. As such, we end up hedging the truth or avoid speaking the truth altogether just to avoid a conflict with our peers. However, let us not forget that we are also living testimonies for God and our actions and words reflect who God is. Thus, we should always humble ourselves and look to God with confidence that He’ll guide us when we put our faith and trust in Him. Finally let us speak the truth of God with love, in our actions and words as Christian students.
